Learning to play a musical instrument is one of the most important and rewarding "after school" activities your children will consider. Playing music helps develop both sides of the brain. The student not only builds artistic skill, but studies have demonstrated that math skills are also improved among students who study music.
Student recitals give music students the opportunity to build self confidence
as they perform in front of friends and family. Our recital students learn
that it is cool to dress-up for a performance, and they learn to be good as an
audience as well as good performers.
The Independence School of Music focuses on providing professional, quality
music instruction since its inception in a pleasant home-like environment. Our
instructors are experienced teachers who give "real" music lessons. Our teachers
have the students learn to read music, and develop music counting skills, and
train their ear as they develop technical skills. This helps the young student
learn about fractions and to train their brain to do more than one thing at a
time (multi-tasking)
Music is like learning a second language. Indeed, it IS a second language.
It is also a language of beauty, and an outlet for exercising one's creativity.
At Independence School of Music, we teach the student to learn to play their
instrument correctly and with a professional approach.
