Some History .. Independence School of Music was established June 1, 2008 as a venue to offer private music lessons and group music lessons to students in Independence, Ohio and the surrounding area. Upon opening the students and music teachers from Prestige Music (Independence, Ohio; formerly Independence Music) joined us. After some initial consolidation, today we continue to draw students from Independence, Brecksville, Broadview Heights, Cuyahoga Heights, Valley View, Seven Hills, the Eastern part of Parma, Bedford, Maple Heights, Garfield Heights, Sagamore and other locations. Today Independence School of music focuses on private music lessons, maintains a full retail music department, offers instrument repair, group music lessons, and operates an online sheet music business. Owner Bob Collett lives in Brecksville, Ohio. In 2008 we will open our "Garage Band Stage" area where we will offer alternatives to private music lessons. Eric Dregne (Trombone lessons, trumpet lessons) and Dave Kochis (Saxophone lessons, flute lessons) , the former owners of Prestige Music now both teach at Independence School of Music. We teach out of studios in an eclectic house converted to a music school located at 7324 Valley View Drive in Independence, Ohio (just around the corner from the former Prestige Music also formerly Independence Music Studio, Inc.). Our studios, next to the Independence Water Tower are situated in a beautiful park like setting. It is not unusual to see deer from our waiting room window. Since we do own our building, we have a much lower cost basis than any other area music store. As of January 2008. Independence School of Music is 100 students and growing. We offer professional music instruction in a very "home like" environment. We have a great lineup of qualified music instructors. Our instructors have a wide range of backgrounds ranging backgrounds, from ranging from the self taught to the masters degree. Some of our teachers perform as well as teach. We have music teachers also direct or assist school bands, orchestras, choral groups or play, sing or direct at area churches and run summer music camps. The instruction studios at Independence School of Music are large enough to hold two pianos, very comfortable, and in a natural setting conducive to the study of music. After opening June 1, 2007; we have added several new teachers
and are expanding our strings program. Our music instruction includes piano lessons, guitar lessons;
the stringed instruments including violin lessons and cello lessons; percussion
lessons including snare drum lessons and bell lessons. We offer Trumpet lessons, trombone
lessons, clarinet lessons, alto saxophone lessons, tenor saxophone lessons, flute
lessons and voice lessons. |
